Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus recently announced plans to phase out elephant acts by 2018 due to growing public concern and challenging legislative efforts. This is exciting news, but three years is three years too long for already suffering elephants.
Ringling has been cited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for violating the minimum standards of the Animal Welfare Act, and new evidence proves elephants with Ringling have tested positive for the human strain of Tuberculosis (TB). TB can be transmitted from elephants to humans, even without direct contact.
Please urge Ringling Bros. to end their cruel animal acts today, not three years from now, and tell them to retire suffering elephants to true sanctuaries, not their cruel training camp.
