Cruelty-Free Cosmetics Act is signed into law!

Governor Hochul has signed the Cruelty Free Cosmetics Act, ending the manufacture and sale of cosmetic products in New York State that have been tested on animals starting in January 2023!

Thanks to Assembly Member Linda B. Rosenthal, Senator Alessandra Biaggi, and all of you who supported this bill, animals will no longer face cruel and painful experiments for our vanity in New York State!

This law is especially meaningful to Humane Long Island as Pepper, a cat we rescued from a product experimentation laboratory in partnership with our friends at the Beagle Freedom Project, passed away at the young age of 4 and a half from cancer, likely a result of his time in the lab. In remembrance of Pepper, Humane Long Island urges people everywhere to only buy cruelty-free products, donate only to charities that don’t experiment on animals, and demand humane alternatives to animal dissection.
