Help Kent Animal Shelter

Our friends at the Kent Animal Shelter are working hard to protect our companion animals and help find them the purr-fect forever home. After years at their current facility, the shelter is now aging and will soon no longer be able to meet the needs and requirements for these homeless animals.

As a result, the Kent Animal Shelter in Calverton has requested a permit to re-build the shelter, which still needs to be improved by the Central Pine Barrens Commission. Even though permits from the D.E.C., the Suffolk County Health Department and a thumbs up from the Town of Riverhead have been obtained, one organization, the Pine Barrens Society, seems to be blocking the project due to environmental concerns, all of which have been addressed in the current planning of the new facility.

Join Kent Animal Shelter tomorrowAugust 19, at 3 PM to speak up for homeless animals and the Kent Animal Shelter. Please meet at Brookhaven Town Hall, 1 Independence Hall, Farmingville, NY, to roar for our friends and animals who need our help!

Just last year, 798 animals were rescued and re-homed by Kent Animal Shelter, with just under 4,000 spays and neuters that same year, helping to decrease overpopulation of companion animals and leading to less animals being euthanized in shelters across the country.

If this permit is denied, the shelter would have no choice but to rehab their current facility on the same footprint, which will continue to be a detriment to the animals and to the environment.

Please join Executive Director Pamela Green of the Kent Animal Shelter tomorrow at 3 PM outside of Brookhaven Town Hall for the Central Pine Barrens Commission Hearing at 1 Independence Hall in Farmingville, NY, and speak out for homeless animals who so desperately need our help!
